Thirty-eight students presented 36 academic projects from a variety of disciplines at Concordia University, Nebraska's sixth Annual Academic and Research Symposium on April 11, 2016.

William Woods film club to host film festival
William Woods University's film club, the Reel Fanatics, will host the fourth annual film festival designed to showcase the short, original works of aspiring student filmmakers. "The First Flight Film Festival," will be held at 6 p.m. April 7, at B&B Theater Fulton Cinema 8. It is free and open to the public. The films slated for screening do not carry MPAA ratings, but some works may contain material not suitable for all ages.

'Cheaper By the Dozen' to be performed at William Woods
When an efficiency engineer sets out to test his methods on his 12 children, the results are hilarious-and effective. William Woods University's next play chronicles the lives of this family as the Gilbreths take the stage in "Cheaper by the Dozen." The comedy will be presented at 7:30 p.m. April 21-23 and 2 p.m. April 23 in Cutlip Auditorium in the McNutt Campus Center.

Silence, set in 10th century England, to be performed at William Woods
A play described as Shakespeare meets Monty Pythons blithering knights at the end of the first millennium will be produced at William Woods University in February. Silence, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25-27, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 in Cutlip Auditorium. During the production, the audience will sit on the stage with the actors, creating an intimate performance space.

William Woods University presents play about sexual harassment
William Woods University students presented a devised theatre drama, "#YesAllWomen/#NotAllMen," in December. The production centered around the Twitter feed #YesAllWomen, a discussion about sexual harassment, rape culture and the idea that culturally we accept as normal that women are not safe to walk the streets. #NotAllMen was a response to #YesAllWomen, and argues that not all men are the enemy and we need men as allies.

William Woods University students present Christmas concert
First Impressions, a student-run choir group at William Woods University, performed two Christmas concerts. Audience members were invited to wear their Best (i.e. Worst) Ugly Christmas Sweater and be prepared to hear some favorite classics and a few with a twist. "Do You Hear What I Hear?" "Cartoon Christmas," "The Christmas Song" and "Grown Up Christmas List" were just a few of the pieces performed.

Participated in Carthage's Annual Christmas Festival
Yearly, Carthage College invites the community to celebrate the joy of the holiday season at the annual Carthage Christmas Festival, three performances of readings and music in the A. F. Siebert Chapel. These annual concerts are the College's Christmas gift to the community. Tickets to the Christmas Festival have been free since the festival began more than 20 years ago.
